Biography:

John Kim is a litigator with significant jury and bench trial experience in both Federal and State courts as well as private arbitrations.  Mr. Kim’s practice areas involve insolvency/bankruptcy, governmental affairs, banking, real estate, employment, construction defect, telecommunications, D&O litigation, and corporate/shareholder disputes.  Mr. Kim has represented government agencies, bankruptcy trustees, private companies of all sizes, high net worth individuals and law firms.

Prior to joining Brower Law Group, Mr. Kim was an equity partner at a national firm based in Los Angeles and also had his own firm.  Mr. Kim has been selected a Super Lawyer from 2014 – 2023.

Mr. Kim is a member of Crossline Community Church and lives in Orange County with his wife and dog.  Mr. Kim enjoys travelling, attending musical events, visiting zoos and whiskey tasting.

Representative Matters:

  • Litigated the contested ownership of tax refunds exceeding $60 million under Federal bankruptcy (Title 11) and banking (Title 12) laws through appellate proceedings.
  • Successfully prosecuted administrative, secured and unsecured claims for creditors and landlords in various bankruptcy proceedings filed in California, Hawai’i, New York, New Jersey, Texas, and Virginia.
  • Secured prompt and favorable settlements on behalf of defendants in various employment discrimination cases filed under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act after prevailing on motions to compel arbitration.
  • Represented an investment management corporation plaintiff in securing a settlement exceeding $50 million funded by insurance companies in a complex, construction defect proceeding with more than 15 direct defendants.
  • Litigated to jury verdict a breach of fiduciary duty and related claims against high level executives of a national real estate company who were insured by numerous D&O policies.
  • Assisted debtors in reaffirmation hearings and a tenant in an eviction proceeding on a pro bono basis with the support of local bar associations.
